About GOLDIGEM

Jennifer Figueroa is a 21 year old Mexican-American, Visual Artist, and Painter born in San Antonio. Texas.  Her Artist Name is "GOLDIGEM" .  Why? Well, Gold is an ethereal color and it brings such joy and sentimental nostalgia. In spirituality, the color Gold means knowledge, and knowledge of self, meanwhile Gem stands for two things: #1 ) Extremely rare, and she believes everyone is a gem because there's no other replica of you other than your own true self, and #2 } It's short for Gemini ,her astrological sign.

How It Started

Throughout her young school years, she was always intrigued with the art classes, which she used to her advantage to practice and become a better artist. Although she didn't take it as seriously, her freshman year it hit her. She continued to take art classes in High School, all the way to senior year where she won 3rd place as best drawing and Artist of the year. It was then she realized she had potential . It wasn't until 2015 she started to share her artwork with her Twitter followers.

" I didn't know sharing my art with people would bring me so much happiness, even if it's only 1 person or 100 people viewing it."  -Goldigem

Her Art Explained

She started out drawing her favorite childhood memories, such as drawing her favorite video games and cartoons. While much of her art incorporates vibrant pastel/neon colors, they work as a layer to hide the struggle and emotional phases she goes through while working on the peice behind the scenes.

Many of her muses portray voluptuous, confident women in their natural state with seductive stares. She compliments them with a personality and a derivation that is unearthly. Her addition of angel wings either on the head or the back of the body, is to exhibit innocence, power, and freedom a women possesses, while at the same time blanketing their fiendish persona. They are very much inspired by her own fashion sense and self expressions. She supplies her paintings with stringent sketched out blueprints, followed by attentive strokes and a repetition of layers of Acrylic Paint to make her muses come to life.

" If I wouldn't wear it, I don't draw them wearing something I wouldn't wear." - Goldigem

Each painting is a dimension of it's own and when observed she will often leave the evident brush strokes to remind you it's just a painting, and you can only dream of such an ethereal world.

Her Inspiration

Goldigem's work is inspired by her surroundings, pain, fears, dreams, and death. It's a well mix of all of these elements. Her most obvious inspiration are women, she wants to reassure women that they shouldn't be afraid to flaunt their bodies and encompass self-confidence; nor  being afraid of expressing their sexuality.
